What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a health care profession concerned with human function and movement and maximising potential:

It uses physical approaches to promote, maintain and restore physical, psychological and social well-being, taking account of variations in health status.

It is science-based, committed to extending, applying, evaluating and reviewing the evidence that underpins and informs its practice and delivery.

The exercise of clinical judgement and informed interpretation is at its core.

Chartered Society of Physiotherapy curriculum framework (January 2002).

All of the Physiotherapists at Physiofocus hold a recognised Physiotherapy degree from either the UK, Canada or Australia. All members of the team are experienced musculoskeletal practitioners. Up to date practice is ensured through continued professional development and a close working relationship with other medical professionals.

Our focus

Through a hands on and pro-active approach our Physiotherapists apply their knowledge, experience and skills to helping people achieve optimum and lasting solutions for their neck, back, muscle and joint pain.
Whether your problem is a recent or a recurring one, Physiofocus’ professionals will identify the deep, underlying causes and help you understand what is happening and how it can be resolved.
The Physiofocus rehabilitation gym is equipped for post injury retraining programs, Pilates mat work and reformer training for individual and small group sessions.

Your appointment

If you have not been to a physiotherapist before, we treat disorders of movement where muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, bones and joints are affected. These disorders may be caused by acute injury, over-use, poor biomechanics, disease or surgery.

For our physiotherapists to give you an in-depth assessment, they will need to assess your movement and may need to view the injured area. As such we encourage you to wear loose fitting clothing. Depending on the injury and part of the body you may be asked to remove an outer layer of clothing. From this assessment the physiotherapist will be able to prescribe a treatment program specific to your injury.
Our friendly team treat you with an individualised approach because no two injuries are the same. We work with people of all ages helping to maintain their health, manage pain, work towards their specific goals of recovery and to act as a preventive measure to disease.

Our Treatment

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists treat disorders of movement where muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, bones and joints are affected. These disorders may be caused by an acute injury, over-use, poor biomechanics, disease or surgery. A physiotherapist will prescribe different treatment or rehabilitation exercises depending on how your injury or complaint presents.

Our Physiotherapists put a lot of emphasis on manual therapy and therapeutic exercise. We believe that ultimately the body should be able to heal, but it sometimes just needs a helping hand. Our primary objective is always to get you back to sports, work and everyday activities as soon as possible.
